We spent the day in Talkeetna on Monday…I think. These are just some pictures from around town…and what a darling town it is. Haven’t a clue who these people are but the breakfast platter was huge.
Talkeetna is where 3 rivers converge…can’t remember the names…hope you all don’t need all that technical stuff. The milky color is a result of the runoff from glaciers…yuck…looked like Milk of Magnesia. More town shots.
Bob, Mark and Sue, Joe and Loretta all took a small plane ride…they landed on a glacier and got out and walked around for a while. I chose to save my money. As you may know, the flowers in Alaska are just breathtaking. These shots were taken at the airstrip. Here is Bob trying to find the correct size of shoes for glacier walking.
They had a great time on their flight…I had a great time napping.
One evening Bob and I and Susan and Mark drove to Wasilla to see what was happening. We got to meet a park ranger and 2 of Wasilla’s finest…after we got rear ended!!!! Luckily no one was hurt and the damage was minimal. This is our car. Can you see the bit of red paint thru the dirt?
This was other driver’s car…and it wasn’t even his…he had borrowed it from a friend. Mark asked the young man what part of his car made the impact and he said heck if he could tell!!! The rest of the car looked worse than this.
We had also driven thru a national recreation area to see about the possibility of camping. It was a pretty park but not laid out for us.
I will just never get enough of looking at the fireweed.
Moving on.
