As usual, on the first of our two days off, we headed into Corvallis to take care of errands, grocery shopping and such. We had to have a small nick in our car windshield repaired and some routine service done on the car…oh yes, and a stop at one of the quilt shops. I needed to find material for the backing of a quilt I have just finished. Weather has been just beautiful these last few days.
The flowers and shrubs are just lovely in the area…especially the rhododendrons.
And clematis
Today we headed west on US Hwy 34 over to the coast and turned south. We passed this plot of “Christmas” trees that had been cut down and they had evidently been down for some time. There are lots of tree farms in the area. I have to say that the drive was so pretty…we were able to see a lot more of the ocean than we did when we drove north last week.
We stopped in the town of Waldport and walked through their small outdoor weekly market. I bought a couple of pastries from a lady that were delicious.
We saw one lighthouse…did not look like any lighthouse I have ever seen before. Since I do not have internet access at home I have not been able to find out why it appears so strange. Sorry, not a good picture.
We had to put our hand our hands in the Pacific.
We made it to our destination of Florence…what a nice place, I really liked it. We stopped off at the casino for lunch and made a very small deposit at the slot machines then on to the Fred Meyer store…one of my very favorite places. A good day.
Moving on.
